We started in the afternoon with two of my colleagues to track a field trip for the school students. Tendaba direction, about 3 hours drive from Bakau (the time to stop at every checkpoint where they arrest us for papers ….) right next to the National Park Kiang West and opposite Bolong National park. All birdwatchers know the place. We took a canoe, and we are parts towards the mangrove, or upon entry, we see birds everywhere. Among the best known here, we saw the kingfisher (which is blue and on all the local beers), pelicans, egrets …. and many more. The place is peaceful; we really feel peaceful!!!! Once we finished our walk, and after seeing been soaked (because I was in front of the dugout ….), we took the aperitif and had dinner (fish caught in the afternoon …), and then I manage the electricity in the room after having a room not made… But the room was nice, simple but this is more than enough, and there were not even many mosquitoes !!!! This morning, we met the village school director, which offers us a village tour (it allows me to take some pictures). The school is at the top of the hill, and you can see a really nice view of the river Gambia. The school children must do every day about 2km to go and 2 km to go back, so they are often absent because some children come from surrounding villages further. The classes are large, and the students are in minimal numbers because they are few people around. A weekend that will have allowed us to disconnect and regain Gambian spirit with the people’s kindness.
Fogo Island
One of the places I wanted to stop in Newfoundland was Fogo Island. I learned a lot about it before, and I just wanted to
