Since I left France (almost 10 years now!), I learned to cook quite everything, and I love to cook things, remembering my French home. So this recipe is famous there, and you should try it too.
For 6 to 8 people
Preparation: 10 minutes
Dough rest: 1 hour
Ingredients: 2 eggs, 1 pinch of salt, 250 g of butter, 500 g of flour
To brown: 1 egg yolk
In a bowl, beat the whole eggs with the sugar and salt until you obtain a white and frothy mixture.
Add the softened butter cut into small pieces, then the sifted flour.
The mixture should be brief so that the dough is crumbly.
Gather into a large ball and set aside for 1 hour in the refrigerator.
Preheat your oven to 355 F.
Roll out the dough with a rolling pin about 1 cm thick, giving it a round or rectangular shape.
Arrange the shape on a baking sheet covered with baking paper.
Dilute the egg yolk in 2 tablespoons of water and brush the cake’s surface with a brush.
Decorate the surface of the ground with the tines of a fork.
Bake the cake, lower the oven temperature to 320 F and bake for 35 minutes.
The best is not to cut it with a knife but with your hands, but it’s up to you.
Enjoy it with a cup of tea or coffee.
