Shenandoah National Park

Shenandoah National Park is just 75 miles from the bustle of Washington, D.C, in Virginia!!!! It was awesome!!!! The park is very long, and there is this long scenic road where you can stop at the overlook and look at the cascading waterfalls, the spectacular vistas, files of wildflowers and quiet wooded hollows. You can stop for hiking a little bit or for a very long hike!!!!

This road was built by young men from the Civilian Conservation Corps (who were paid $30 a month, and they sent $25 a month to help their families). The parc was finally opened in 1936. Sadly, the president of the United States at this moment ( Roosevelt) decided to ask the people who were living in the mountains to leave!!!!

The weather was not with us, but we loved driving under significant rain!!!! (almost the same I had in Texas a few years ago )
