Phang Nga Bay

If you are in Phuket, take the time to jump on a tour to go to Phang Nga Bay. You will probably make a few stops on your way there. The first one was in Suwankuha Temple (the Monkey Cave), where you can find a reclining Budha inside a cave (quite impressive) and a lot of monkeys before the entrance of the Temple. I have no idea why they are here, but they are enjoying that the tourists are providing them food, and the babies are so cute!

Then we took a Longtail boat (and they are so colorful!!!), and we made the first stop in a fisherman village: Koh Panyee, and we stop at this place to eat, but we couldn’t walk through the village (who is a Muslim village and we had a speech about no alcohol, no sex and whatsoever). So I guess this is why we couldn’t see anything. I discover that the south of Thailand is mostly Muslim (which is different than the North where they are Buddhist), but Malaysia is not far away (so perhaps this would explain that).

We made another stop on a big boat to let the people make a canoeing tour (in a cave which was not far away ), so I took pictures of an Indian couple who were on one canoë (when you carry a camera everywhere with you, this is the kind of things you should expect!). We didn’t have to wait long. Finally, we went to Phang Nga Bay Marine National Park, where you can see substantial vertical cliffs frame 42 islands with some cave accessible only low tide. The bay is composed of large and small tidal charnels that run north to south through Thailand’s most significant remaining primary mangrove forest.

This park was famously featured in the James Bond movie, “The man with the Golden Gun” in 1974, so even it is a National Park, it doesn’t seem protected!!! It is just totally crazy that around all these islands, the boat throws away their gas. It is a shame because when you see this kind of place, you want to protect it. I guess because a lot of tourists are coming, it seems just impossible to respect the environment.

This place was excellent, and I could even go into the water! I was a Jame’s Bond girl in the water! Enjoy this place, and if you are a fan of Jame’s Bond!!!
