Omega Park

Not so far from our place this year, we have this Park: Omega Park where they have this road where you have to stay in your car to see some animals, so we went there to discover it.

Where is Parc Omega located?

It is located on the 323 just before entering Montebello.
Here is the address you can enter in your GPS:
399 Route 323 Nord, Montebello, Québec J0V 1L0
It was easy for us to get there as it is not far away from the school I was working at this year, so I knew the road, just straight!

The Park’s history:

Established in 1985, Omega Park opened its doors to the public in 1991. The original concept of the Park was a place to discover North American wildlife on 2200 acres of site set in the natural scenery of the Outaouais region. The original vision expanded progressively to develop and enhance the offer with a pioneering spirit while respecting nature.
Over time, much focus has been placed on the contributions of the First Nations in Quebec. An area of the Park is dedicated to them, it is now known as the First Nations Trail. The history and culture of colonization are also presented in a dedicated area: the trading post, the old farm, and the sugar shack showcase the highlights of the region’s history. Other natural attractions and presentations were gradually added, and a range of accommodations, including rustic chalets, tipis, log cabins, and chalets, allowed guests to sleep close to wolves and bears.

How much is the entrance?

The entrance for an adult is $38.27 + taxes.
The entrance for a child is $27.83+ taxes (for a child between 6 and 15 years)
You can find their prices on their website:

What can you experience there?

When you enter the Park, they will give you a plan of the site, and it is handy.
The first thing we did was walk into the Land of the First Nations. The trail is not difficult, and you will wall around a lake. Around the path, you will see many totems, and every one of them had a great explanation about what you could see.

Then we made the loop by car to see many animals: some elks, red deer, bison, caribou, tundra fox (it was difficult to spot them as we went there during the winter!), arctic wolves, coyotes, alpine ibex, wild boar, bears (we didn’t see them as they were hibernated!). Don’t be surprised if you don’t drive as sometimes the animals are just on the road, and people are giving them some carrots. It is a great experience.

We stopped at the Pioneers Land to try my new ice-skating shoes! (it was not very convincing as it was my first time after 30 years!)
We went for a walk on the Arial Boardwalk. It was magical with the snow!

And we went for a walk to the Old Farm and were lucky to have the sun there.

We went to the Wolf Observatory to see the wolves and to learn a lot about them. The woman who was explaining things to us was great and captivating. I could tell that they are well treated here!

Why should you go there?

To learn more about some typical animals in Canada, you can rent some cabins near the wolves (this is something we want to do!), and during the summer you can go there on Saturday for the night (until October 2nd). It will give you plenty of choices to discover the Park.
Enjoy!!!
