Last year, after a long trip from Bangkok, I went to Anse St-Jean in the Saguenay Marine National Park with J. It took us almost 6 hours to get there from Montreal, but the landscapes are fantastic!!!! It is the place where you can see the Saguenay Fjords!!!! Quite a magical spot between the mountains and the lakes (who were not so cold as I could imagine!!!).
Anse St-Jean is a tiny town, but it is so charming. A lot of houses are in good shape; they were built at the beginning of the 20h century. And the colors of them are beautiful, a few of them have their red roof (as in Tadoussac but the trip will be for another weekend). Only 1224 people are living there, but this is why it is so typical (not so many tourists but you can use the boat to visit the fjords, see the belugas and then the whales, do some kayaking, and even do some local shopping )!!!!
We just walked around and went up to the Anse de Tabatière to see the fjord (and just before the storm arrived!!!). It was amazing to see how the clouds were coming so fast!!! Then we went to The 1000 dollars point view, which is interesting because this photo was taken at the beginning of the 20th century and it took almost 60 years to find out where this photo was at 1000 $ taken!!!! You can see from up there the covered bridge, the fjord.
It’s a long way from Montreal but worth it! Take your chance to discover this place in Quebec.
