Brown’s Bay Marina

We found this place just by looking on Google Map, and I wanted some scenery place near Campbell River as, for once, we didn’t want to make a long ride.

Where is Brown’s Bay Marina located?

15021 Brown’s Bay Rd, Campbell River, BC V9H 1N9

Just follow your GPS, and you will get there. After that, you only will have to go through a gravel road for 5 km. It was the first time we took a gravel road on the island (and not the last one), and we didn’t expect that, but you can do it.

What can you usually do there if you are coming during the summer season?

We always have the thing to go to places where nobody is because we do the other way. We had nobody there this day, and it was perfect for taking pictures and enjoying the serene atmosphere with the boats and an ideal view on Quadra Island.

You can bring your RV there and enjoy all the outdoor activities you liked: hike, kayak, discover the marine wildlife and enjoy a nice meal at the end of the day, then go back to your glamping tent or your cabins.

A little history about the place:

In the 1950s, the Adams had a great vision. They decided to turn an old log sort into a salmon fishing destination called the Adams’ Resort. By the late 1950s, they had visitors from all over the world at the resort, catching the elusive Big Tyee salmon. With cabins on the beach and the main lodge, the Adams family put Brown Bay on the map of Vancouver Island, BC.
Years later, in 2007, the resort was purchased by Recourt BV to fulfill and continue the Adams’ dream of maintaining the perfect outdoor luxury cabin resort on Vancouver Island, BC. Even though the old, original lodge and beach cabins are long gone, Willem and Erica Recourt, together with their daughter Esther and son-in-law Brent Hollink, decided it was time to bring the old and new dream back to reality.
Since the days of the Adams’ Resort, an RV park was constructed.

They have further expanded the Marina and can accommodate vessels up to 100′. With a boat launch and parking facilities, you can escape having to travel through the Seymour Narrows to reach one of the best Salmon fishing locations on Vancouver Island.

If you are hungry? The Narrows Floating Restaurant was completely renovated in 2012 to the delight of our visitors. Since re-opening, the restaurant has quickly become the talk of the town thanks to its “All You Can Eat Crab” nights and delicious “West Coast” influenced menu. With the popularity of our “All, You Can Eat Crab” nights, we strongly suggest reserving a table, as it is often a sold-out event.

The Recourt family knew the one thing missing from the “old” days was the lack of accommodation; the old lodge burned down in the 80s. Therefore, in 2011, three new custom cabins were built. Being only a stone’s throw away from the water, the views from their decks are breathtaking. The cabins have their own West Coast animal theme, and the log furniture is handmade on Vancouver Island.
The accommodations quickly became a popular commodity, and in 2014 the new marina Floathouse, having two fully equipped upstairs suites and two additional rooms downstairs, created a wholly unique opportunity. Who wouldn’t want to be bobbing on the ocean while watching the hustle and bustle of the Marina and seeing the daily catch come in at the end of the day!
When the new movement of “Glamping” was introduced to BC in 2016, six European Style Safari tents were placed on permanent platforms overlooking the Seymour Narrows. These fully-equipped glamping tents ad the perfect touch of “roughing it” while staying comfortable and cozy. In 2017 and 2018, another two custom cabins were added to the mix with the same layout but adding a second bathroom upstairs for added privacy. Lastly, a fully renovated three-bedroom house right on the beach can become your family’s vacation getaway.

Though the times and owners have changed, the vision of their resort remains the same. Their resort is a fantastic home away from home for all guests coming from all over the world.
