Bright Angel Regional Park

I discovered this place this year because I love the suspension bridge, and in Bridge Angel Park in Duncan, there is one who moves with you as you walk there!

Where is Bright Angel Park located?

Once again, you can just put the address into your GPS and follow it.

4528 Tigwell Rd, Duncan, BC V9L 6N2

Once you arrive, don’t stop at the kid’s playground, you will have to drive a little more to see the parking and park there.

Bright Angel Park History

William John Hardy (Jack) Fleetwood, a lifetime Cowichan Valley resident, and his wife, Mabel Fleetwood, donated 4.13 hectares of land to the government in 1958 for park use. Jack, an Irish Catholic, firmly believed in guardian angels and named the park in honor of these guiding spirits. Jack was a well-respected business owner, as well as a writer. He wrote many poems inspired by the natural beauty of Bright Angel Park. Since then, the park has grown to 22.3 hectares.

What can you do there?

You can walk along tranquil, forested trails with the stunning Koksilah River flowing under the Cowichan Valley’s most famous suspension bridge. This park located in beautiful Cowichan Station is one of the most popular well-visited parks attracting 80,000 visits annually.

Bright Angel Park has two picnic shelters that are available for rental. The upper picnic shelter is available for daytime use and overnight group camping, and the lower picnic shelter is available for daytime use. Each of these facilities is available for groups of up to 60 people.

The upper picnic shelter features seating for up to 30 people, has an open fire pit, and is nearest to the public washroom building and parking lot.

The lower picnic shelter features seating for up to 60 people, has a wood stove-style cooker, and is closer to the Koksilah River.

Why should you go there?

If you want a nice and easy walk, this park is perfect for you. I loved sitting under the suspension bridge with my feet in the water, so choose your spot.
